Advanced Network for Greater Employee Longevity

The ANGEL project, Advanced Network for Greater Employee Longevity, is focused on the use of new technologies to respond to the most important social challenge launched by the 4th industrial revolution: using new technologies to increase the safety of workers, the most important resources for companies happened.

The project is based on IROI’s consolidated experiences on operational planning and on 3 Smart Track patents.

  • Patent no. 102019000021537 of 03/08/2022 (System and method of recording, sharing, anonymization and immutable certification of data for the safety of workers on a blockchain-type DLT system),
  • Patent no. 1407898 of 05/23/2014 (Worker safety system)
  • Patent application n.102023000013638 dated 06/30/2023 (Low power geofence system for worker safety)

Thanks to participation in numerous research projects, among which we mention A4S and SAFE 4.0 co-financed by START 4.0, BESTSAFE4IREN co-financed by CIM 4.0, WISE co-financed by ARTES 4.0 and INAIL, MORE THAN THIS and AWARE co-financed by FILSE Liguria Region and BESTSAFE co-financed from INVITALIA (Brevetti + 2021 call), the starting TRL of ANGEL is equal to 5 and will reach level 7 at the end of 12 months.
ANGEL is a “predictive safety” project that automatically manages the interactions of operators in risky environments with reporting of unauthorized access and evaluating in real time the correct use of PPE based on the task. Using proprietary AI and ML algorithms, it plans the carrying out of complex activities, optimizing processes and ensuring operator safety.

The ANGEL project consists of several operational modules interconnected with each other:

  • Activity designer: for planning the methods and timing of carrying out complex activities.
  • Plan4Staff: for the definition of the operators' work shift plan considering health risk factors.
  • Real-time monitoring of PPE: by correlating it to the operator's task in a specific work phase.
  • Real-time verification of access to risk areas with real-time alarm
  • Data recording on a blockchain

Smart Track’s role

Within the ANGEL Smart Track project it will deal with the patent valorisation of the technologies involved capable of creating a “democratic” platform of “predictive safety” scalable in different industrial sectors of interest for CIM 4.0. The risks will be shared together with the IROI partner and the best mitigation procedures will be implemented thanks to consolidated experience in the implementation of complex and large-scale projects.

Smart Track, by collaborating in ANGEL, will be able to accelerate the technological transfer and patent valorization of the industrial property rights involved in the project, consequently increasing its turnover with significant employment implications in the territory, with a forecast of hiring 5 highly qualified figures within 36 months from the end of the project. Smart Track will also be able to increase its know-how on thematic areas relating to operational planning algorithms, AI and ML contributed by the IROI partner
