The ship’s energy efficiency can be significantly improved by implementing a hands-free location/access control system for staff/tourists.

The proposed system aims to integrate latest generation IoT sensors such as stereoscopic cameras (optical motion sensors) and micro radio transponders to be used as localization checkpoints to implement an automated architecture capable of streamlining the provision of certain services only in case of verified conditions. The object of the project will be to choose the best approach based on the customer’s needs.

The proposed architecture counts those present in each cabin and calculates the density of presence throughout the ship; on the basis of this information it is possible to implement corrective interventions in real time including:

  • Turning the lights on and off
  • Lowering / raising the intensity level of the lights
  • Lowering / raising the temperature of the air conditioning system
  • Lowering / raising the level of the air conditioning system

Smart Track’s role

Within the CRUISE WISE project, Smart Track will analyze the application scenario based on the information provided by the large company (Fincantieri) and will design the latest generation IoT sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms with the aim of implementing an automated architecture in able to make the provision of energy services (HVAC) more efficient only in the case of verified conditions

The system designed and developed thanks to CRUISE WISE will allow Smart Track to test its expertise on indoor localization systems even in complex and highly ferrous indoor scenarios such as those found inside a ship.
