Health & Emergency for Lone workers Management using secure Edge and blockchain in Transportation

The HELMET project responds to the most important social challenge post COVID19: using new technologies to increase safety in the workplace. It was born from an idea by Smart Track following the victory of the 2022 Safety Innovation Challenge of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group.

The main focus activities of the project are:

Indoor localization in complex environments of man down emergency events, SOS and lack of mandatory PPE from DVR (operational areas located in railway yards and train production plants, maintenance workshops, substations
Automatic management of collection points with counting and identification of missing persons
AI cyber security analysis algorithms for secure data transmission between IoT devices and SW applications
Recording of events on blockchain for immutable certification of data for possible insurance and legal purposes

Smart Track’s role

Within the HELMET Smart Track project it is the project leader and will deal with the patent valorisation of the technologies involved (no. 3 of Smart Track) with integration of cyber security for safe data transmission. It will also be responsible for the development of integrated solutions to minimize the times for recovering potential data lost in complex environments and to certify events on blockchain for legal and insurance purposes.

Smart Track, through the HELMET project, will be able to have employment implications, increase its know-how and turnover following the “cross contamination” between the various SMEs. It will also be able to increase business opportunities by creating value from the complementary skills of the SMEs involved in the project and increase worker safety with scalability of the project also for industrial production sites.
