The Preventive Innovation project represents an ambitious effort aimed at transforming prevention and training in the infrastructure construction sector through the implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

The project involves achieving the following macro objectives:

Study of construction site situations: the use of the aforementioned technologies can bring benefits and the creation of a pilot case of improving safety through the digitalisation of these environments.
Contribution of knowledge: allow you to broaden and scale the analysis framework of needs in terms of construction site safety and opportunities for process improvement.
Raise safety standards: provide highly digitalized training to staff and therefore with the possibility of being reiterated several times, minimizing the impacts on the operation of the construction site which will require fewer stops and slowdowns
Increase the level of knowledge of the specific domain: thanks to the collaboration with site managers, the direct involvement of partners, the highly specialized skills in Perceptual Engineering provided by DIBRIS, the use of START services, the study and creation of AR-VR-MR experiences, integrated with IoT wearable “Connected worker” devices, highly personalized and representative of the working reality of this type of construction site.

Smart Track’s role

As part of the PREVENTIVE INNOVATION project, Smart Track will develop a man-down verification system, verification of the presence of personal protective equipment (PPE) and high-performance geo fences within the civil construction site. This composite system must promptly alert the worker when he finds himself inside particularly dangerous areas and does not have the mandatory supply of PPE.

The system designed and developed thanks to PREVENTIVE INNOVATION will allow Smart Track to scale its IoT “Connected Worker” platform even within complex civil construction scenarios such as the construction of a building.
