Workplace Innovation for Safety Environment

Reports of accidents at work in Italy between January and December 2022 were 697,773, +25.7% compared to the same period in 2021 (source INAIL1). Although technological innovation is directing the sector, the protection of human resources in the workplace in scenarios of increasing automation, but also subject to unexpected crises in which the maintenance of production sectors and industries critical to the country’s competitiveness is required , remains one of the primary unsolved problems of the contemporary industrial world: this is the main objective of the WISE proposal.
The project uses IoT HW platforms wearable by workers called WeTAG, innovative sensors placed in the environment and on machinery, latest generation AI algorithms and Smart Track patents, in particular:
– System and method of localization, communication and real-time tracking of wearable devices for the integrated management of safety and for the intelligent optimization of evacuation in the event of accidents (Patent no. 102017000134106 of 04/21/2020)
– System and method of recording, sharing, anonymization and immutable certification of data for Workers’ Safety on a blockchain-type DLT system (Patent no. 102019000021537 of 03/08/2022)
– Man-vehicle anti-collision system (patent application no. 102022000010640 dated 05/23/2022)
WISE creates the first IoT connected worker platform for “predictive safety” composed of two subsystems:

Man machine anti-collision system: it is able to create a virtual safety bubble around the worker equipped with WeTAG wearable devices to promptly alert him in the event that there is interference with previously moving vehicles and equipment (forklifts, reach stackers, overhead cranes). equipped with dedicated HW.
Automatic management of evacuations: it allows you to automatically manage company evacuation plans by identifying the number of people present in the safe areas, the number of missing people and their identification. This solution is based on stereo 3D cameras with dedicated AI algorithms installed at the company access gates and low power sensors at each collection point.

Smart Track’s role

All the data collected by the WISE platform will be certified through the use of an innovative DLT (Distitributed ledger) network topology based on the Smart Track BEST SAFE patent capable of certifying the reconstruction of events in which a work risk has occurred in a objectively reliable for insurance, legal and health purposes. The machinery will be equipped with latest generation technologies such as UWB radio modules, BLE 5.2 AoA and edge computing to enable the 4.0 worker through patented methodologies

Through this project, WISE is strategic for Smart Track and will have the opportunity to reach new customers, both with the direct channel but also with the indirect channel using certified partners.

The results obtained from the WISE project will be disseminated at sector fairs (for example the SICUREZZA, MECSPE, IOTHINGS, Ambiente Lavoro fair), in which Smart Track will be able to participate. A stand will be set up with a station dedicated to the WISE project in which visitors will be able to actually try the functions developed and will be able to easily understand the benefits of the technology to raise the safety levels of their operators involved in high-risk work activities. To strengthen and make marketing actions more effective, dedicated material will be prepared which will represent the developed prototype. Social channels will also be used, in particular inkedin, to publicize the results obtained and the effectiveness of the project.
